Week 35 – RESULT

“Bloody Watford” was the shout echoing across the Carse this evening as their late, late equaliser scuppered the holiday plans in many households.

“Get in there” however was the shout at “Chez Shug” as the 4th goal in that crazy match gave him the most unlikely victory.

That single Watford goal (94th-minute equaliser) moved Shug from 6th place (with 16 points (trailing Anne and Mally by 8 points, at that stage)) to 1st place (beating Anne, Mally and Kevin by 2 points. “UN-BE-LIEVE-A-BLE”.

Meanwhile, at the top of the OVERALL LEADERBOARD, we again have some movement.

David “The Fermer” Imlay caught (but didn’t overtake) Ian Murray and both now sit on 410 points.

John Fletcher remains in 3rd, but lost a little ground and now trails the leaders by 7 points.

Only 6 weekends to go (240 points up for grabs) so still time for someone to stage a late charge!

Week 36 contains 2 x Scottish Cup semi-finals, 1 x top-of-the-table(ish) Scottish Championship match (Dundee Utd v Ayr Utd (Friday 19:05)), plus 5 x crucial English Premiership games.

Week 35 – after 6 matches

Joint-leaders after 6 games and it’s Alfie and Anne who lead the field with 17 points each.

Wattie (yes – you read correctly) is in 3rd place, 2 points behind on 15 points.

All will decided with the final two matches tomorrow.

Dave I has caught up with Ian M again and BOTH have 2-1 scorelines for their last two games – although Ian thinks Wolves will beat Watford by that scoreline, whilst Dave reckons that Watford will triumph!

On to the scores and the Hearts – Hibs match MAY go some way to determining this weekend’s winner.

6 people have gone for a Hearts home win;
4 people have predicted Hibs; and
7 people think it’ll be a draw

To add some spice to today’s game, Ian Murray thinks Hibs; Dave Imlay thinks DRAW and John Fletcher thinks a Jambos win

Here for you entertainment, are ALL the predictions.

Good luck to all – and “have fun” today if you’re going to Opening Day at Glencarse Bowling Club. Hope the rain goes off

Week 34 RESULT …

Adam wins with impressive 25 points …

What a weekend and congratulations to Adam Dewar for securing victory with a record-breaking 25 points. He also enters the Hall of Fame, adding to the list of GBC Sweepie “Gr-EIGHTS” (all 8 results predicted correctly).

Six (of the 8) matches this weekend ended up with a 2-1 scoreline (most people’s most popular predicted scoreline) so it’s not surprising that THIS was the highest-scoring weekend of the season so far.

Ian Murray has returned to the top of the “Overall Leaderboard”, inching ONE POINT ahead of David Imlay.

John Fletcher’s 21-point haul this weekend means that he cements his 3rd-place position – trailing the leader by a mere 5-points.

Craig stays in 4th place, but is now 8 points off of a place on the podium.

There are now only SEVEN WEEKENDS until the end of the competition. Who knows what’ll happen…?

Week 35 starts at 12:30 on Saturday with the Edinburgh derby – Hearts v Hibs.

Week 34 – Saturday Night update

5 matches gone and …

Phew!! What a day of drama!

We’ve had about 9 different leaders throughout the afternoon and at one point Ian Murray was on 18 points but then the late goals started pouring in….

Finally, it’s Adam who leads this week (with 13 points).

Craig is 2nd (11 pts) with John Fletcher and Ian Baptie on 9 points.

Three more matches tomorrow with much consensus about which team will win each match so, yet again, it’ll all come down to getting the score spot on (although six of the Top 7 on the leaderboard all have Chelsea to win 2-0 (at Cardiff)).

I have added how the Top 4 stand in the Year-End Race to the Overall Title – with Ian Murray back in the lead (by 1 point) and Craig (in 4th) only 7 points off top-spot!

Week 34 – 1 match down …

Livingston 1 – 2 Hibernian

Ladies and gentlemen, we have a competition!

6 people correctly predicted the exact score, whilst another 5 spotted the Hibs win.

Ian Murray goes back to the top of the pile (383 pts) with Dave I 3 points behind (380 pts). John Fletcher (376) is a further 4 points behind and Craig Middleton (372) is another 4 points back. So, we have our Top 4 separated by only 11 points.

Three of tomorrow’s matches look tricky to predict (Hearts – Aberdeen (2h-7d-8a)); Motherwell v St Johnstone (9-4-4) and St Mirren v Dundee (4-7-6).

As usual, good luck to all ….

Week 34 – Predictions …

Well, who’d have thunk it?

All 17 sets of scores are in – and it’s not even 7 o’clock

Much interest in result of tonight’s match where 2 of Top 5 have gone for 1-1, whilst other 3 in Top 5 have opted for a 2-1 away for Hibs.

We COULD have a new leader (Ian Murray again) and the Top 4 separated by 11 points, if Hibs do the business – and starting to pull away from the chasing pack

Good luck all. There’s heightened excitement as we watch the scores coming in on the vidiprinter at C’Arse Castle tonight….

Week 33 – RESULT

Joint-winners – John Fletcher and David Imlay

David I moves ahead of Ian Murray at the top of the leaderboard

This has been the highest-scoring weekend of the season so far. Everybody scored at least 12 points, with the TWO winners (Dave Imlay and John Fletcher) scoring 20 points each.

Dave’s 20-points were enough to knock long-time leader, Ian Murray, off the top-spot for the first time since Week 2. Now it’s Dave who has the 2-point lead – and the pack is closing in!

Sneaking up in 3rd, and closing the gap at the top, is GBC’s quiet man, John Fletcher, only 7 behind Ian and 9 behind Dave.

Two people, Craig and Barney, scored points in EVERY MATCH, so join an illustrious list punters in the gr-EIGHTs group.

Biggest climbers this week were Adam (18 pts) and Wattie (17 pts), both of whom moved up 3 places.

EIGHT WEEKS TO GO. We’ll finish on Saturday 25th May with the Scottish Cup Final (WEEK 41).

It’s starting to get exciting….

Week 33 – update (after Scotland win)

Here are the standings after 5 matches. Last 3 matches all kick off at 7:45 tonight (Sunday).

Dave Imlay and John Fletcher lead the way, with 16 points but nine people are within 5 points of the leaders.

Much will depend on the unpredictable Netherlands v Germany match.

Many eagle-eyed punters will have noticed that, for the first time since Week 1, Ian Murray is NOT at the top of the overall leaderboard. The Fermer has taken over at the top (but will he STILL be there by the end of the night?).

Good luck to all

Week 33 – after Saturday …

John Fletcher correctly predicted BOTH of today’s matches and takes a 3-point lead into the final round of (five) matches tomorrow.

There’s also great excitement in the Imlay household tonight as “The Fermer” has finally caught up with long-time leader, Ian Murray at the top. They disagree on the result/scoreline of the first 3 matches of tomorrow, so it’s all to play for!
