Week 39 – Predictions at Start

All the scores are in …

Only Dave Stephen thinks that Celtic won’t pick up at least 1 point from their trip to Pittodrie at lunchtime – and hence win the league. Has Dave never WATCHED Aberdeen lie down to Celtic? (Ed: There’ll be at least a 3-goal difference)

Craig has boldly predicted A DRAW – which would see him leapfrog John Fletcher into 3rd place (top 3 have all gone for the 2-1 away win (so nothing will have changed by 2:30pm this afternoon))

Mally and Eric both reckon that Dundee will be relegated by 4:50 this afternoon, but MOST people predict that Dundee will do better than St Mirren today and so will keep their interest going for another week (at least)

GMac and Dave Stephen both think that LIVERPOOL will be top of the league after this weekend’s round of matches.

Here are your predictions. Good luck!

Week 38 RESULT …

Wattie scores an historic victory …

Famous events that happened on 28th April …

1770 – Captain Cook lands at Botany Bay
1789 – Fletcher Christian leads a mutiny on HMS Bounty
1935 – Moscow underground railway opens
1945 – Benito Mussolini killed
1948 – Terry Pratchett is born
2019 – Wattie Garland wins the Glencarse Bowling Club Football Sweep

Yes! It’s finally happened. The Wattmeister has conquered the bowling betting world.

After a losing streak of 37 weeks (the joint-longest losing streak in GBC betting history) the club’s most-losingest loser has finally turned the tables

“Get it up ye” and “who’s laughing now, eh?” were the only two printable comments that we are able to use, after our reporter caught up with the Wattster.

In other news, David Imlay doubled his lead (for the second week running) over Ian Murray and now leads by 12 points (with only 3 weeks remaining).

The race for the 3rd podium place (and the last of the prizemoney) is getting exciting with Craig, Graeme and Mally all within 7 points of John Fletcher. Shug and Alfie are lurking a handful of points further back.

We have also given out more than £1000 in prize-money since the competition started in August 2018

But, let’s not detract from the famous events of today. The Wattler scored a perfect 5 points in each of today’s matches. His 10-point victory MAY be the largest victory of the season (still checking the record-books)

3 weeks to go … who said that being a member of a bowling club is boring?

Week 37 – RESULT

2 surprising scores from yesterday’s three matches ensured that there were not many points doled out. As a result, Mally (16 points) held on to his overnight lead, pipping Dave Stephen by 2 points.

Not many changes in the overall leaderboard – Mally swapped places with Craig, and Eric B and Ian Baptie swapped around.

David I remains at the top, doubling his lead over Ian Murray to 6 points.

Only 4 weekends remaining. 160 points available. Only got enough money for the Top 3 on the leaderboard at the end of Week 41 (Scottish Cup Final)

Week 37 – standings after 5 games

It’s been a low-scoring weekend so far and Mally leads the charge with 14 points.

GMac, in 2nd-place, is FOUR points adrift, with GraemeP and Dave Stephen a further point back (on 9)

David Imlay (7 points) has increased his lead at the top of the leaderboard to SIX points as Ian Murray only scores 4 points on the opening day.

3 more ‘crucial’ matches tomorrow, but MOST people require AT LEAST 2 CORRECT SCORES to wrestle the money out of Mally’s hands (such is the popularity of 3 x Away Wins tomorrow)

Yes – we ARE marking the scorecard of the Alfietron.

3 correct scores to complete a historic, nay, Alfietronic afternoon of tiptastic punditary.

A record-breaking 29 points (including 5 correct scores + 2 correct results) gave Alfie an impressive victory, beating over-night leader, Ian Baptie, new Overall Leader, David Imlay and yesterday’s defeated bowling finalist, Brian Barnett by 7 clear points.

David Imlay (432 points) has taken over at the top of the Overall Championship leaderboard, leading Ian Murray (429) by 3 points.

John Fletcher lies in wait for any slip-up in 3rd-place with 420 points.

Despite only moving up 1 place, Alfie’s 29 points has moved him to within touching distance of a Top 5 finish to the season (and maybe harbouring outside hopes of a place on the podium?)

Five weeks to go. Can David hold on the lead? Can Ian stage a comeback? Is John Fletcher poised to make a charge for the top? Can someone from ‘the pack’ fight their way into the Top 3?

But, let’s not get ahead of ourselves. Let’s celebrate the amazing achievements of the The Alfietron. 3 correct scores in a row for a record-breaking weekend.

Bravissimo, Alfie!!!

Week 36 Predictions at start

Well, well, well! All predictions are in before tea-time! My wife WILL be happy!

Dundee Utd are favourites to win tonight’s match (14 votes); 1 person has chosen the draw (Dave S) and 3 have picked an Ayr victory (Adam, Shug and Anne (last week’s winner and runner-up)).

We welcome Debbie Maguire to our fold and she has immediately fallen into the trap of picking a 2-1 win

Good luck to all …
