Hold on to yer hat, Dave I

Eric Barty leads this week, but …

After 6 matches, Eric Barty (13 pts) has a good lead over the rest of the pack. Kevin (10pts) is in 2nd-place, whilst Mally, Adam, Dave O and GMac are a further point behind (in joint-3rd)

For those interested in the top-of-the-table race to the End of Season Title, table-topping Ian Murray is in unfamiliar territory, languishing in LAST PLACE, with a feeble 2 points – which means that Dave Imlay has now only a more-manageable 9 points to make up!

GAME ON!!

Week 25 – after 1 game…

Disco Dave takes early lead…

Everybody knows, that to succeed in the GBC Football Sweep, the winner will need an all-round knowledge of football at all levels of the game.

Will this fact be the achilles heel for long-time leader, Ian Murray and his nearest challenger, David Imlay?

Ignorance of lower-level football has opened the door for challengers of these mighty tipping leviathans.

From 10,500 miles away, having submitted scores 4 weeks in advance, with no knowledge of current form or team injuries, this week’s early pace-setter is El Presidente – ‘Disco’ Dave Oversby.

7 others tipsters spotted the obvious home win for Championship table-toppers, Ayr United in tonight’s clash with Dundee United.

Plenty matches still to come this weekend with the Angus derby (Arbroath v Forfar) looking like the pick of the bunch!

Week 24 RESULT…

Fletch and The Doc share top prize

Spurs’ 2-1 away win didn’t change the top-end of the leaderboard very much.

In the end, John Fletcher and Graeme Patullo shared the honours – both scoring 18 points.

Adam Dewar was 3rd (17 pts) with Eric Barty and Jim Scott (16 each) completed the Top 5.

Ian Murray‘s lead at the top of the overall leaderboard has stretched to 15 points, after he outscored his nearest challenger, David Imlay, by 15 points to 13.

Adam is this week’s Biggest Climber (up 4 places to 11th) and Graeme leapt 3 places (to 7th).

Daryll Spark suffered for not submitting ANY scores, and plummeted 5 places as a result.

Week 24 Result

Week 24 – after 6 matches…

Fletch retains lead

John Fletcher’s ‘perfect’ weekend (after 5 out of 5 correct results) came to a crashing end when Arsenal outplayed Chelsea.

However, Big John retains the lead (after 6 games) with 14 points.

Adam is in 2nd place (13 points) with the winner from the last two weeks, Stewart Bell, plus Graeme Patullo and Kevin Stephen in joint-3rd place on 11 points.

Most people have 2 x Away Wins for tomorrow, so correct scores will be vital in deciding the winner.

In total, there are EIGHT people who could win the money outright, or at least grab a share – including Alfie (in joint-15th) who is a massive eight points adrift, but who can still share the loot with 2 correct scores.

Week 24 predictions…

No Daryll; no Jordan; 2 sets of scores from Robert!

How difficult can it be to submit 8 sets of scores before the first match of the weekend kicks off?

Well, for MOST people, it’s not difficult at all.

Sadly, for others, it’s either impossible to get ONE set of scores submitted or impossible to stop yourself from submitting TWO sets!

Here is what I have so far…

Week 23 Result…

Stewart Bell wins for 2nd consecutive week…and scores a record-breaking 23 points

Stewart Bell won the prize-pot for the second week in a row, amassing a record-breaking 23 points in the process.  He predicted the exact score in four of the 8 matches.

Craig Middleton ended up in 2nd place, whilst Stewart’s long-time challenger, Shug finished in 3rd-place.

Meanwhile, in the race for the Overall Champion, Ian Murray (1st) and Dave Imlay (2nd) both scored 13 points this week, so Ian maintains his 13-point lead.

Craig Middleton good weekend means that he joins John Fletcher in 3rd-place (both on 261 points).

Unsurprisingly, Stewart Bell’s 23 points means that he jumps 4 places into 8th position overall.

Week 23 Result
Leaderboard (after Week 23)

Finally! Week 22 result has been ratified…

Stewart Bell officially declared the winner!

Apologies for the delay in declaring this week’s result

In the lowest-scoring week of the season so far, Stewart Bell only needed 12 points to win the prize-money.

Unsurprisingly, there were 4 runners-up – Dave I, Alfie, Wattie and Jordan.

Ian Murray’s 30-point lead only 3 weeks ago, has been more than halved, and Dave Imlay is now only 13 points behind.  Fletch completes the Top 3 – a further 9 points adrift.

Week 22 Result

Week 22 – after 7 games

8 people can still win with one match remaining

Stewart Bell takes a precarious one-point lead into the final match of the weekend.  However, he has gone against popular opinion and predicted a DRAW for Wolves v Liverpool

Dave Imlay and Wattie are in a strong position to snatch victory with a Liverpool win.  However, that could change if Craig, Dave O, Adam or Iain B predict the EXACT SCORELINE

Even Jordan can still win – but ONLY IF THE MATCH ENDS 2-2

Week 22 – update (after first 6 matches)

Late goals in both matches mean that instead of John Fletcher leading us into the final two matches, it’s Stewart Bell at the top of the heap with 12 points.

Dave Imlay, Wattie and Jordan are close behind on 11 points.

Still plenty people can win the money so maybe tomorrow’s match between Newport and Leicester will things a little clearer…
